Our Solar System

Our Solar System consists of eight known planets. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. All of these planets are named after Greek or Roman gods and goddesses. All except for Earth. The Earth gets it's name from the old English word, ertha which means ground.
Some people will say that Pluto is a planet. But in 2006, it was demoted from the planet status and is now a dwarf planet.
